Winery Background

Perrier-Jouët, established in 1811 in Épernay, Champagne, is renowned for its elegant and floral Champagnes. The Belle Epoque line, especially known for its signature floral bottle design, epitomizes the house’s philosophy of finesse and precision.

Producer

Perrier-Jouët, part of the Pernod Ricard group, crafts its Champagnes with an emphasis on the Chardonnay grape, which adds a light, floral touch to its blends.

Vineyard

The 1998 Belle Epoque is sourced from prestigious Grand Cru vineyards in the Champagne region, primarily from Cramant and Avize for Chardonnay, with Pinot Noir from Mailly and Ay. The vineyards are known for producing grapes with exceptional balance and complexity.

The Wine

The Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque 1998 is a vintage Brut Champagne, offering a blend of 50% Chardonnay, 45% Pinot Noir, and 5% Pinot Meunier. It has been aged for several years to achieve its remarkable depth and complexity.

Vintage

The 1998 vintage saw excellent conditions for ripening, allowing the grapes to develop concentrated flavors. This vintage is known for producing rich and opulent Champagnes with great aging potential.

Vinification and Aging

After the first fermentation, the wine undergoes extended aging on lees to develop its signature brioche and toasty flavors, balanced with fresh fruit. The wine was aged for about 7 years before its release, ensuring full maturity.
