Winery Background:

Puchang Vineyard is a unique winery located in the Xinjiang region of China, nestled in the foothills of the Tianshan Mountains. Established in 2008, Puchang is dedicated to organic viticulture and producing wines that reflect the distinct terroir of this remote region. The climate in Xinjiang is characterized by hot days and cool nights, which allows for the slow ripening of grapes, contributing to the depth and complexity of the wines.

The Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva is one of Puchang’s flagship wines, crafted from organically grown grapes and aged to express the rich character of the region’s unique terroir.

Tasting Notes:

Appearance: Deep garnet with a slight purple hue, showing concentration and maturity.

Nose: Intense aromas of blackcurrant, blackberries, and plum, with underlying notes of tobacco, cedar, and a hint of pepper. As the wine opens, it reveals more complex aromas of dark chocolate, earth, and a touch of vanilla from oak aging.

Palate: Full-bodied and structured, with smooth, well-integrated tannins. The palate displays flavors of ripe black fruit, including black cherries and blackberries, complemented by savory notes of leather, graphite, and a touch of herbaceousness. There’s a balanced acidity that adds freshness to the wine, and the oak influence is subtle, contributing to the wine’s depth without overwhelming the fruit.

Finish: Long and layered, with lingering notes of dark fruits, spice, and a hint of minerality, suggesting good aging potential.
