Winery Background and History

Bodega Garzón, located in the Maldonado region of Uruguay, is renowned for its commitment to producing premium wines that reflect the unique terroir of the area. The winery emphasizes sustainable practices and has gained international recognition for its diverse portfolio, including the acclaimed Reserva Albariño.

Producer and Winemaker

The winemaking team at Bodega Garzón is dedicated to crafting wines that express the character of their vineyards. Utilizing modern techniques alongside traditional methods, they focus on highlighting the natural attributes of each varietal, with a particular emphasis on Albariño.

Vineyards and Microclimate

The Albariño grapes are cultivated in estate vineyards characterized by ballast hills with stony, well-draining soils. Proximity to the Atlantic Ocean provides cooling breezes, contributing to a temperate climate ideal for preserving the grapes’ acidity and aromatic profile.

Vinification & Aging Methods

Hand-harvested grapes undergo fermentation in stainless steel tanks to maintain varietal purity. The wine is aged on fine lees for 3 to 6 months in stainless steel, enhancing texture and complexity.

Tasting Notes

This Albariño displays a pale yellow hue with greenish reflections. Aromas of peach and citrus are complemented by a fresh, mineral palate with marked acidity and a long, rounded finish.

Food & Wine Pairing

Ideal pairings include cod with cockles, citrus prawn salad, and traditional grilled seafood. The wine’s freshness also complements Asian cuisine, Peruvian ceviche, and fresh tuna salad.

Service Methods and Temperatures

Serve chilled between 8°C and 10°C (46°F to 50°F) to fully appreciate its aromatic nuances and refreshing qualities.

Storage and Aging Potential

While enjoyable upon release, this Albariño can develop additional complexity over the next 1 to 2 years when stored under optimal conditions.
