Winery Background and History
Sieur d’Arques, established in 1946, is a renowned winery located in Limoux, in the Languedoc region of southern France. The region boasts a rich history of sparkling wine production dating back to 1531, when monks at the Abbey of Saint-Hilaire created what is considered the world’s first sparkling wine. Sieur d’Arques continues this tradition, producing high-quality sparkling wines that reflect the unique terroir of Limoux.
Producer and Winemaker
As a cooperative, Sieur d’Arques brings together passionate local winemakers dedicated to crafting exceptional wines. The winemaking team employs both traditional methods and modern techniques to ensure the production of elegant and expressive sparkling wines.
Vineyards and Microclimate
The vineyards are situated in the foothills of the Pyrenees, benefiting from a Mediterranean climate with Atlantic influences. This unique microclimate, combined with calcareous soils, provides ideal conditions for cultivating grape varieties that thrive in the production of sparkling wines.
