Winery Background and History
Résonance is the first venture outside of Burgundy by the esteemed Maison Louis Jadot, marking its expansion into Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Established in 2013, Résonance focuses on crafting expressive wines that embody the unique terroir of Oregon while incorporating Burgundian winemaking traditions. The winery emphasizes organic dry-farming practices and meticulous vineyard management to produce high-quality Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Producer and Winemaker
The winemaking team at Résonance is led by Guillaume Large, who brings extensive experience from his tenure in Burgundy. Collaborating closely with the legendary Jacques Lardière, Large employs a philosophy of minimal intervention, allowing the natural characteristics of the vineyard and vintage to shine through in each wine. This approach ensures that the wines authentically reflect their origin while benefiting from Burgundian expertise.
Vineyards and Microclimate
The Découverte Vineyard, meaning “Discovery” in French, is located in the Dundee Hills AVA of Oregon’s Willamette Valley. This estate vineyard is characterized by its volcanic Jory soils, known for imparting red-fruit character and freshness to the wines. The region experiences a cool, maritime-influenced climate with wet winters and dry summers, providing optimal conditions for the slow ripening of Pinot Noir grapes. The vineyard’s elevation and exposure contribute to the development of complex flavors and balanced acidity in the fruit.

Vinification & Aging Methods
The grapes for the 2017 Découverte Vineyard Pinot Noir were handpicked and meticulously sorted to ensure optimal quality. Fermentation and maceration occurred in small lots, preserving the natural character of the site and vintage. The wine was aged for 17 months in French oak barrels, with 30% being new oak, allowing for subtle integration of oak influences while maintaining the purity of the fruit.

Tasting Notes
The 2017 Découverte Vineyard Pinot Noir exhibits a brilliant color with an expressive nose featuring aromas of cherry, blackberries, wild mint, fresh licorice, and noble wood. On the palate, the wine is vibrant and energetic, revealing a subtle balance and elegant floral notes. The finish is mineral-driven, reflecting the complexity imparted by the Jory soil.
Food & Wine Pairing
This Pinot Noir pairs well with lightly seasoned red meats, such as grilled lamb or roasted pork, as well as poultry dishes like herb-roasted chicken or turkey. Its balanced acidity and red-fruit profile complement root vegetables and dishes featuring earthy flavors, making it a versatile companion to a variety of culinary preparations.
Service Methods and Temperatures
To fully appreciate the aromatic complexity and structure of this wine, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 16 to 18 degrees Celsius (61 to 64 degrees Fahrenheit). Decanting for about 30 minutes before serving can enhance the wine’s expressive qualities by allowing it to open up and reveal its full spectrum of aromas and flavors.
Storage and Aging Potential
The 2017 Découverte Vineyard Pinot Noir has the potential to age gracefully over the next 8 to 12 years. When stored in optimal conditions—a cool, dark environment with stable temperature and humidity—the wine will develop additional complexity, with tertiary aromas and flavors emerging to complement its existing profile. This aging potential allows for enjoyment both in its youth and with extended cellaring.
