Yalumba, established in 1849 by Samuel Smith, is Australia’s oldest family-owned winery. Located in the Barossa Valley, South Australia, Yalumba has a rich heritage of over 175 years in winemaking. The Viognier grapes for the GEN Organic Viognier are sourced from certified organic vineyards in South Australia, including the Barich family property adjacent to the Murray River at Loxton, the Bassham family’s vineyard in Barmera, and the Yarra Vale Vineyard in Virginia. These regions experience a Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summers and mild winters, ideal for cultivating Viognier. The vineyards are managed without chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides, promoting biodiversity and soil health.
