The soil is predominantly composed of stony, fragmented phyllite interspersed with loess and loam, contributing to the distinctive minerality of the wines. The southwest exposure and the moderating influence of the Rhine River create a favorable microclimate that promotes optimal ripening of the Riesling grapes.
